Content is King & Long Will it Reign

This is the internet, where content is literally everything. If you’re reading this, you are already under the thrall of the King.

Any organisation attempting to promote its business online must produce good content. Even if you are the most recognised, oldest and most reliable brand in the world, if your online content is uninspiring, lacklustre or absent entirely, an online competitor will take business from you.

The question then becomes, what is good content? Well, that’s a matter of opinion and won’t be answered in any detail here. Basically, good content is relevant, engaging and (some might dispute this) shareable. It doesn’t necessarily have to be memorable. Provided the reader associates the benefits of consuming that content with your brand, you’ve done your job.

What happens if you don’t produce good content?

The simple answer is – people forget about you. It’s incredibly annoying when you arrive at a website and there is barely anything there, or there are links to nowhere, or it is filled with poor content. If this is your website, fix it, because you will fail.

Poor content is equally as bad as, if not worse than no content. As Mark Twain says,

“It is better to keep  your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and  remove all doubt”.

So how do we become memorable?

Content creation takes time, which everybody receives an equal share of. If you are a business owner and you have no time to create content, get somebody else to do it! If you have a website, content creation isn’t a “lazy Sunday” option. It’s important, and it needs to happen NOW. It doesn’t hurt to refresh or create new content regularly either. If you could invest in a business where all of your online content was managed for you at a professional level, would you?
