Entrepreneurial Women’s Workshop

Francesca Webster attended the 2013 Entrepreneurial Women’s Workshop on October 16th.

The event, hosted by Ernst & Young in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank, focussed on the financing aspect to franchising and small business. Important questions discussed during the day were how and where to gain financing. Also addressed was the issue of funding for women, and the fact that less than 5% of venture capital financing is invested in businesses led by women.

For Brazilian Beauty, this is an important subject. Over 75% of our franchisees are women. The same statistic can be applied to franchise enquiries and applications. However, a consistent hurdle to those wishing to open a Brazilian Beauty salon is that of financing.

For young women coming from a background in beauty, health and wellness, there is often a lack of significant capital. At Brazilian Beauty, we constantly strive to overcome these funding issues. We’ve worked with quite a few couples and individuals in an endeavour to secure the required funds to launch their own Brazilian Beauty. Often, this can mean taking on debt to a bank. In the past, we have been able to secure funding on very good terms for our potential franchisees.

Suncorp Bank has offered 25% funding accreditation to approved potential Brazilian Beauty franchisees, which means that newcomers need only provide security for 75% of their initial capital requirements. This accreditation is slated to increase with the expansion of the Brazilian Beauty franchise system. We also work closely with Crowe Horwath to ensure we can always obtain the most advantageous funding terms for all of our franchisees.

Another source of initial capital that is always open to new franchisees, as well as budding entrepreneurs, is that of equity funding. For many, the idea of selling interest in your company to outsiders is daunting. However, on the facts, it is often a safe and efficient way to obtain the required funds to launch your business.

Beyond this, Brazilian Beauty takes on the head lease for each Brazilian Beauty premises. This helps to take the pressure off the franchisee, while also providing a safety net ensuring the stability and permanence of your business.

Brazilian Beauty is dedicated to ensuring the entry of new franchisees is as smooth and stress-free as possible. We offer a broad range of financial assistance options, and are always prepared to go that extra mile to guarantee your Brazilian Beauty experience is a happy and successful one.
